From farming the cherries through picking (cultivation), to drying (processing), roasting, brewing, then finally drinking, this module looks at the many stages coffee goes through in the supply chain and how each stage is its own “variable” that impacts the quality and resulting flavours in the cup.

Apart from learning about each of the stages in the coffee supply chain, you will also learn about the importance of water quality, equipment cleanliness and general maintenance, and gain insightful knowledge about the sensory process so you can start to identify and describe the many nuances that can be experienced with drinking specialty coffee.

This interactive online course demonstrates how to brew espresso and prepare milk based espresso beverages, as well as filter coffee (hand brew) and even takes you through “cupping” protocols (professional coffee tasting process).

The Coffee Skills Program (CSP) was built by the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) to create a structured learning pathway with specific qualification levels. Specialty coffee is a diverse industry with loads of opportunity. The CSP allows you to choose the education path that suits your interests and needs.

 
 

How it works - 6 modules. 3 Levels. 1 Diploma.

Pass Exams. GET CERTIFIED. And Grow a Coffee Career!

The CSP consists of six different modules: Introduction to Coffee, which only has one level, and five specialist modules: Barista Skills, Brewing, Green Coffee, Roasting and Sensory Skills. Each of the specialist modules is available at three different levels, with points attached at every stage. You may choose the modules that fit your interests and needs. Once you have achieved 100 points, you will be awarded the SCA Coffee Skills Diploma.

This course is worth 10 points towards the CSP Coffee Diploma

CLASS SCHEDULE

PRE-COURSE;

  • Pre-recorded Lecture - (2.5 hours) to watch from your smart phone anytime before the class

WORKSHOP;

  • Attend the course - (3 hours) join us at our Academy in PJ for practical activities

POST-COURSE;

  • Comprehension quiz - complete the prescribed activities and test how much you learned (in your own time)

Cottle Coffee Academy Booking Policy

All sales are final, course fees are non-refundable. Last minute changes (with 48 hours) are NOT POSSIBLE. To change the date of your booking we require a minimum of 8 days notice via email ( academy@cottlecoffee.com.my ) otherwise your payment will for be forfeited.

In the very rare chance the class is rescheduled from an MCO or other COVID related inconvenience, you can choose any of the other available dates. If you change your mind and are unable to attend, another person can take your place in the class (you’re welcome to sell your ticket).

If you are given a HOME SURVEILLANCE ORDER and are unable to attend the course we require notice within 48 hours from the moment you receive the order. Failure to notify us in a timely manner will result in your booking being forfeited (Last minute changes are not possible so please let us know as soon as you receive the order).
